Royal by Winter Renshaw
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Five bright, shining (but very “angsty”) stars. Winter Renshaw really dragged her readers through an emotional roller coaster with this story… and I loved every second of it!
Demi Rosewood grew up in the quintessential family/neighborhood. Loving parents, supportive siblings, all around well-rounded childhood. Royal grows up in foster care because his morbidly obese mother was unfit due to her gambling addiction. The two meet when Demi’s brother Derek befriends Royal. The Rosewood family falls in love with Royal and he ends up living there after he ages out of the foster care system. Something happens when Royal is 19 (as a reader you’re kept in the dark about what it is until the very end) and Demi’s father forbids anyone from contacting Royal ever again.
7 years later and after a car accident almost claims the life of Demi’s fiancé guess who shows up!?! Yup! Royal! And he’s about to throw everyone’s life as they knew it upside down!
Buckle up for this story! Lots of unfair, frustrating twists and turns as the story evolves.
